Hello, crafty friends! I am super excited and honored to be guest designing for Spellbinders and their new Cardmaker II Collection. Today I am using the Jump for Joy stamp set featuring the cutest frogs ever.

Thanks for Jumping In
For my first card, I used the frog that looks like it’s jumping. I have always been fascinated with the wildly different colors that frogs are in nature. So, I looked up tree frogs on the internet and used this color scheme for my frog. Can you believe they actually look like this in real life? I used Copic markers to color this little guy.

For the main background of my card, I used the Sun Rays Embossing Folder. Before embossing my paper, I inked up the embossing folder with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide. After running it through my Platinum 6 die cutting machine, I was left with this soft inked panel which I love.

While I was making this background, I made several other backgrounds using different color ink in the embossing folder. I used a circle die to cut a circle out of the center of one of those pieces, which has a slightly lighter tone to it. Using that circle, I began assembling a wreath using the Petite Floral Potpourri die set. I used several different colors of green card stock to cut leaves and stems, and I used white, orange and blue card stock to cut different floral shapes. I just kept gluing on layers until I felt like it was full enough.

Assembly was pretty straightforward after that. I glued my embossed panel onto a white A2 card base, leaving a small margin. I popped up my wreath in the center of the panel on foam tape. I white heat embossed the sentiments on black card stock and then trimmed them down. After figuring out the placement of the sentiments, I adhered them onto the wreath, along with the frog. I finished the card by scattering some sparkling clear sequins both on and around the wreath.

You’re Ribbiting

After finishing my first card, I decided to make a more clean and simple design. This time I used the frog holding the leaf. Again, I colored my frog with Copic markers and fussy cut her out. I pulled out my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine and the Essential Glimmer Rectangles Hot Foil Plates. I used Speckled Prism to foil a piece of black card stock and Viridian Green to foil white card stock with a smaller plate. I trimmed both of these panels and adhered them to a white card base. The white panel is popped up on foam tape, although it’s hard to see that when it’s on top of black. It’s also hard to see the shine from that foil in the picture, but believe me it’s there!

I stamped the “You’re” sentiment directly onto the white foiled panel and then white heat embossed the “Ribbiting” sentiment onto black paper. I trimmed that sentiment down and popped it up on the panel with foam tape. I did the same with the frog. To finish the card, I scattered a few green jewels around the image.

Thanks for joining me today. Be sure to check out the new stamp collection at Spellbinders, along with all of their other cool products. I have to admit I’m becoming quite addicted to hot foiling! Leave a comment telling me which frog you liked the best. I’m leaning towards the clean and simple design, but that colorful tree frog on the first card has my heart!

Wishing you all a crafty day!

Allison
