Hello, friends. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Today, Spellbinders has released a bunch of new collections, all celebrating Christmas in July. While I have a lot to share over the next week or so, I thought I would start with one of my favorite collections – the Layered Christmas Collection. This collection has three sets of layering stencils. You can either buy each of them as a bundle with its matching die, or you can just buy the stencils. Either way, these stencils make the most gorgeous, effortlesss designs. I thought I would do something different and create some masculine, monochromatic cards. Believe me, I had to restrain myself from not adding color to these gorgeous stencils! I have a YouTube video showing the cards, along with a lot of stenciling tips – you can view it below. You can also go directly to YouTube to watch it.

Note: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

My first card uses the new Layered Joy Tree Stencil & Die Bundle. For all of my cards, aside from the bonus card at the bottom of this post, I used the matching die to pop up the sentiment. I used a set of brown inks for the floral elements and a deep turquoise color for the word. The only other place I used the turquoise color was for the star on top of the tree. I used Pinkfresh Studio inks in the following colors: Aquamarine, Espresso, Gathered Twigs, Doe and Warm Buff.

My second card uses the new Layered Noel Foliage Stencil & Die Bundle. For this card, I used Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated ink cubes in the following colors: Fawn, Cozy and Woodsy. The blue color is Pool from Hero Arts. I blended a little bit of brown over the blue in order to mute it a bit. This is one of the tips that I share in my video.

My third card uses the Layered Merry Christmas Stencil & Die Bundle. I used a trio of brown inks from Gina K Designs for this card. The colors are Kraft, Warm Cocoa and Dark Chocolate. The green color is Bundled Sage Distress Oxide. Watch the video for the all important tip on using stencils that have words!

I couldn’t put my stencils away without making at least one colorful card. So, I pulled out my go-to colors and quickly stenciled this beauty! It wasn’t until I was gathering up links for this blog post that I saw the packaging for this stencil – the colors are almost exactly alike! I suppose that means these are the perfect colors to use – ha ha. I used Distress Oxides for this card in the following colors: Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Salvaged Patina, Kitsch Flamingo, and Picked Raspberry. The yellow is Marigold, and the word shadow is Ocean Breeze, both from Pinkfresh Studio. I did not pop up the sentiment on this card – I figured it’s always nice to have a one-layer card in my stash. Besides, this stencil design is so beautiful just as is! I did come in afterwards with my Midas shimmer pen to add some shine to the star and other yellow elements.

I hope these cards put a smile on your face today. Leave me a comment and let me know which one is your favorite! And be sure to head over to YouTube to watch my video. There are so many other amazing new collections released today from Spellbinders, so definitely take a look! I will be highlighting several others over the next week or two. Thanks for visiting me today – I always appreciate you stopping by.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison
