For today’s cards, I used the new Very Merry Cover Die.  I made two shaker cards, which you can see in my latest video. You can view the video below or head over to YouTube.

Note: all supplies are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

For my first card, I pretty much just used the Very Merry Cover die itself to make the shaker card. This cover die is so much fun and gives so many design options and combinations. The only other elements on the card are the shaker bits. I built this shaker the traditional way – using foam tape. If you watched the video, I do want to clarify one thing that I forgot to mention. To build up my shaker, I used two different thicknesses of foam tape. The Big Momma foam tape from Simon Says Stamp is thinner than the Altenew foam tape. I could have doubled up the Altenew, but I really didn’t need that thick of a shaker wall/well. I do often combine different foam tapes to get the thickness that I want.

For my second card, I used the ornament from the Very Merry Cover die for my shaker element. Instead of using foam tape, I built up the thickness by cutting 4 layers of ornaments in white card stock before adding my top silver layer. I also made my own shaker “bits” – watch the video to find out how I did that with glitter and alcohol ink!

I used the new Not Quite a Dot cling stamp for my background on this card. I love how the stars (not quite dots) mimic the shape of the stars from the Very Merry Cover!
