Hello, friends. Happy New Year! I know that it’s already January 6th, but I am just now emerging from my holiday hibernation and getting back into the craft room! I am happy to once again be designing with some of the Spellbinders Monthly Clubs this year. You will see me designing with both the Large Die of the Month and Small Die of the Month clubs. I also will be playing with one of the new clubs, the Stencil of the Month.

Let’s do a refresher of the Spellbinders clubs because a few things have changed from prior years, mainly some of the club offerings. One of my favorite aspects of the clubs is that you can cancel at any time. That means that if you love one of the clubs you see, you should just jump on it because you’re not committing yourself to anything going forward. If you don’t like the club kit the following month, just cancel it! Clubs open up to new subscribers on the 6th of each month. This gives current members several days before that to decide if they’re continuing with their subscriptions, while giving them priority in receiving their kits. The subscription window for new members ends on the 27th of the month, assuming that the club kit has not already sold out.

There is a new club starting this year called the Deluxe Caboodle Value Club. This club includes all ten clubs PLUS a bonus item. For January, the bonus item is the Exclusive Honey Dippen’ Die Set. It is only available to members of this Deluxe Club. You will see me use that bonus die set below.

Members of any of the clubs get additional benefits. They receive exclusive member pricing in the Spellbinders online store. Plus, they receive access to deals, savings, and gifts – only available to members.

Let’s get to the cards that I made! I have a new video showing how I made my cards using the  Large Die of the Month  and the Small Die of the Month. You can CLICK HERE to view on YouTube or watch it below.

Note: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.

The Large Die of the Month for January is called “Honey Bee Jar.” This kit features a large jar, florals and a bee. This jar die is perfect for creating an easy shaped card. I chose to add it to a card base, which is 5″x5.5″. This will easily fit into a 5×7 envelope. I didn’t do anything crazy on this card – I just wanted to feature the club kit in a rather clean and simple way. There are so many possibilities, though. You could cut the jar from vellum or acetate. You could create a shaker card. You can use the jar without the cute little topper and bow because the jar die itself has detail at the top for a lid.

The tag on my card is included in the set. I used a Concord & 9th sentiment to stamp on my tag. It’s from a set called “Sew Lovely.”

The card above features the Small Die of the Month, which is called “Sitting Pretty.” There are a lot of floral elements in this club kit, but I chose to keep it clean and simple and focus on the adorable birds that are included in the set. The stamped sentiment comes from the “Love You Greetings” stamp set from Simon Says Stamp. I used the Essential Hearts Die Set to cut the heart shape in my panel. You can watch me make this card in my video

My next card features the January  Stencil of the Month club, which is called “Lively Floral.” This set has 5 layering stencils. I used Distress Oxide inks so that I could stencil directly onto colored card stock. For the petals and leaves, I used two different colors so that I could add some shading detail. When I was finished stenciling, I added some white gel pen highlights. I then turned the panel into a flat shaker card and added a die cut sentiment on top. The “happy birthday” comes from the “Popular Sentiments” die set. I used gold matte card stock for the detail layer.

My last card features the exclusive Honey Dippen’ Die Set that, as mentioned above, only comes with the Deluxe Caboodle Club. I used the bee from the Large Die of the Month. The sentiment comes from the Sweet Bee Stamp Set from Concord & 9th. I stamped part of the sentiment with black pigment ink and the larger words with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide.  I added Glossy Accents to the honey drip. I think this is a really sweet clean and simple card.

I hope these cards put a smile on your face today. As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison
