Hello, friends! I hope you are all having a terrific week! I have spent the week playing with some shimmery backgrounds that I made on Sunday. I had a fun session with my new Magicals from Lindy’s Gang. This was my first time playing with these shimmer powders and definitely not my last! The set that I played with is called Tea & Crumpets, and it’s a relatively new set that also features their new shaker jars. Even though I have the whole set, I did purchase them separately. Why? Well, I had intended on trying only a few colors, but before I knew what was happening, I had added all of them to my cart! I just couldn’t choose, and I’m glad that I didn’t.

I have two new videos on YouTube. The first video shows how I made all of the backgrounds that you see in the picture above. The second video shows how I took some of those backgrounds and made them into cards.
I have not used all of the backgrounds yet. They are now in my stash of backgrounds, which I love because then I can make a quick card one day when I’m not feeling particularly creative. For the backgrounds that were not made into cards, you can look at the supply list on the first YouTube video for the products that I used.
All of the supplies that were used on the finished cards are linked in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.
My first card features the new Neatly Knitted Embossing Folder from Simon Says Stamp. You can see me coloring the “Lush Leaves” die cut in the first video. This is a new die from Birch Press Design. I hot foiled the sentiment with matte gold foil.
My second card features the new Bee-Cause Embossing Folder from Spellbinders. I love this background so much that I didn’t want to cover it with anything. I did end up adding a simple foiled sentiment, which is from the same Seahorse Kisses Sentiments Hot Foil Plate & Die Set as the first card.
My third card features the Floating Foliage Embossing Folder from Altenew. You can see how I prepared this background before applying the Magicals in the first video. I think the result is really beautiful! The Fancy Hugs die is also from Altenew.
My next card features the Florence Plate from Simon Says Stamp. The “you” die is part of the new “You & Me” set from Waffle Flower. I cut the shadow layer as well as the leaves from a pearlescent vellum that has a turquoise sheen to it.
My last card might be my favorite because I used this gorgeous new Nordic Spectacular Butterfly die from Poppy Stamps. I just received this the other day, along with several other items that I purchased from their spring collection. Hopefully, I can share more of that with you soon! For the layers of my butterfly, I used some specialty paper from various mystery boxes from Your Paper Insider. These are the boxes that are delivered quarterly and contain an amazing assortment of paper. It’s hard to see the shimmer in both the orange and white layers in the photo, but it’s there!
This card also features the Giant Firework Stencil and Small Hello Die from Simon Says Stamp. This is one of the backgrounds that featured the emboss resist technique with the Magicals.
I hope all of these cards bring a smile to your face today. Leave me a comment and let me know which one is your favorite. Do you have Magicals? If so, let me know what your favorite set is because I know that I am ready for more! Thank you so much for visiting my blog today.
Wishing you all a crafty day,
Allison
