Hello, friends! I am back today with some masculine holiday cards that I created using products from the new Timeless Trees collection from Spellbinders. My cards both feature the Mantel Village and Mantel Decorations die sets. These are sold separately, or they are sold as a bundle, which is great because I wouldn’t be able to choose one over the other!
I have a new video sharing today’s cards. You can CLICK HERE to view on YouTube or watch it below.
NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.
Both of my cards today are A2 sized in landscape orientation. I wanted my mantels to be a little bit longer and hold more decorations, so I did some partial die cutting with the mantel die to make them longer. For my first card, I used some woodgrain patterned paper to cut my mantel and set that against a backdrop of wood paneling, both courtesy of paper from the Craft Consortium. I cut all of my decorations out of white glossy card stock. This mimics the real life decorations that I have that are made from white ceramic. It is both funny and delightful that I have almost identical Christmas decorations as the one on this card!
My sentiment is quite fitting, which I love. It comes from the Christmas Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set, and I hot foiled it with white foil. You may know that I hot foil with my press plates, but guess what? I finally, finally decided to get the BetterPress System, and it’s on its way to me this week! I anticipate getting very distracted from my other tasks when it gets here, which is why I hadn’t ordered it up until now – hahaha.
For my second card, I created my background with the new Bark 3D Embossing Folder. I also used the folder to emboss my mantel! The mantel die does create a subtle woodgrain texture, but I love how it looks when it’s embossed like this! It looks like a real, rustic floating mantel, if one were to stain their mantel with a gray stain, that is. The Merry Christmas banners are so fun because you can also spell Happy Holidays with the set. As a finishing touch to both cards, I added a little red bow to the deer. This little bow comes from another Simon Hurley die set called “Playful Penguins”. I always look for little finishing details from other sets that will complement my cards. It makes me happy to use my stash!
I hope these cards bring a smile to your face today. I had fun making them both! As always, I appreciate you visiting my blog.
Wishing you all a crafty day,
Allison
