NOTE: all supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this blog post.
My first card features the new Butterfly Blossom Texture Die. This die cuts a beautiful, textured panel that you can then color with the Butterfly Blossom Coloring Stencil. This stencil set has five stencils. Waffle Flower sells these as a Combo at a discount, but you can also buy everything separately. The die and stencil alone create a really impactful design, but you know me…I love dimension! So I used the Butterfly Blossom Die set to create individual flowers and butterflies to pop up on top. These separate dies are the same size as the elements on the texture die, so you can use the same stencil set to color them. That means you can use them on their own card, without the texture die. As for coloring all of these elements, I used my favorite sized grip mat, the 7.5×11, because it has room for both the stencil and my ink pads. I love not having to worry about my ink pads moving while I’m inking, and I love even more not having to have a separate holder for them! For the sentiment, I used the new Paper Hug Sentiments Combo, which includes the stamp set and matching dies. Again, you can buy these separately, as well. I love the combination of fonts in these sentiments.
You can see all of the beautiful dimension that I achieved in the picture above. I do show all of the ink colors that I used in the video, but here is a breakdown of the colors:
- Spun Sugar (Distress)
- Kitsch Flamingo (Distress)
- Arctic (Altenew)
- Caribbean Sky (Altenew)
- Winter Lake (Altenew)
- Limoncello (Pinkfresh Studio)
- Citron (Pinkfresh Studio)
- Bay Leaf (Pinkfresh Studio)
My second card features the beautiful new Butterfly Focal Die. This die also comes as a Combo, or you can get the Butterfly Focal Stencil separately. I did use the stencil, and you wouldn’t believe how fast I colored this butterfly! You can make it as simple or as detailed as you want. The die also looks great on its own, since the die creates all of the texture. For the sentiments, I used the new Subsentiments Butterfly Diecut. You know that I love ready-to-go sentiments, and Waffle Flower offers so many different variations of these diecuts. That striped paper on the side comes from my all-time favorite paper pad, JJ’s Rainbows. I was using this paper pad years before I became comfortable using other patterned paper on my cards, and I have several pads in my backstock because I’m a hoarder.
For the ink blending on this butterfly, I used the following colors:
- Bubblegum Pink (Gina K)
- Caribbean Sky (Altenew)
- Squeezed Lemonade (Distress)
- Spiced Marmalade (Distress)
- Mermaid Lagoon (Distress)
- Mowed Lawn (Distress)
