Hello, friends! I have one last project to share with you this week using the Artful Tulip die set from Spellbinders, and it’s finally a card! I’m sure the inspiration for this card is obvious. The news of Ukraine keeps getting more horrific, and my heart goes out to everyone there. But I am especially thinking of Yana Smakula, who works with Spellbinders, and who gave me the opportunity to play with these amazing new dies.
Supplies
Spellbinders – Sweet Birds on a Branch Die Set
Spellbinders – Artful Tulip Die Set
Picket Fence Studios – Ways to Say Get Well Stamp Set
Paper Smooches – Positive Strokes Two Stamp Set (Retired)
Pinkfresh Studios – Premium Dye Inks
Creative Process
I die cut the pieces for my paintbrushes from the Artful Tulip set the same as I’ve been doing all week – I think I could cut these in my sleep now! I lined up the brushes where I wanted them on my panel so that I could figure out where to stamp the paint strokes. I then used my MISTI to stamp, using Pinkfresh Studio Sweet Mustard for the yellow color and Pinkfresh Studio Seaside for the blue. I also stamped my sentiment at the same time. For this, I used Warm Cocoa from Gina K. Designs. I did use a stamp set from Paper Smooches, which is now retired, but there are other sets out there with paintbrush strokes. Here is one example from Studio Katia.
Next, I cut the pieces that I needed from the Sweet Birds on a Branch set, using Kraft card stock for the branches and a light blue and yellow for the birds. I darkened the wings and bellies of the birds with the same Pinkfresh Studio ink, and I double stacked those on the birds for more dimension.
Final assembly involved arranging the branches so that they looked like they were coming out of the paintbrush and gluing everything down to the panel. I did pop the birds up on some thin foam tape. The panel itself is popped up onto an A2 white card base, using craft foam. I also added a few jewels in each color around the birds, as well as some gold jewels to their eyes and the paintbrushes.
I hope this project brings a smile to your face during a time when we are all so worried. Thank you so much for joining me today.
Wishing you all a crafty day,
Allison
