Both of my cards today feature the new Hip Hip Hooray Stamp Set. I adore these little hippos! There is a matching die set, which I do not have yet. You can also purchase the stamps and dies as a combo set. I stamped the hippos with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Neenah 80lb paper and colored them with my Copic markers.  I used the following colors:

  • Hippos: W00, W1, W3, W5, R20
  • Watermelon: R20, R22, G02, G12

Next, I prepared my background using the Funky Hearts Stencil Set, which was just released last month. I stenciled the layered design using Distress Oxide Inks. I used Salvaged Patina and Cracked Pistachio for stencils 1 and 2. I then used Mermaid Lagoon to add the hearts to the blue areas. I didn’t add hearts to the green areas because that is where I glued my hippos. I embossed the sentiment from the stamp set onto black card stock and trimmed it down. I love how this turned out!

After making the first card, I just had to make another one! This time, I masked off part of the stencils so that I could make a fun wave shape on my white card base. I used the same colors as the first card, but this time I did add hearts to the green areas using Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide. My sentiment is the Wild About You die, which I cut from black glossy card stock. I popped the little hippo up on foam tape and then added a few pink hearts from my little stash of hearts and stars that I keep on my desk.

Are you ready to hop along and see inspiration from all the other designers?

I hope these cards bring a smile to your face. Thank you so much for visiting my blog today. Be sure to hop along and leave some love for all of the talented designers sharing inspiration today! There will also be a hop tomorrow with even more inspiration.

Wishing you all a crafty day,

Allison

  1. These hippos caught my eye the other night when I got word of the release. They’re adorable. I have a lot of cute critters and I’m in a budget cut situation right now so I have to mind my wallet. But these are on my radar. Your card is adorable!! That funky hearts stencil makes a perfect background.
