Happy Weekend! While we are waiting for a big snowstorm here in Colorado, I am sharing a card that makes me think of spring. This would make a great Mother’s Day card.

These Colors

I have been wanting to try this color combination for awhile, not to mention wanting to use some never-used products from my stash.  There is something about blue, yellow and orange that just pops. Maybe it’s no coincidence that my college years were split between the Wolverines and the Gators!

Making the card

Have you started a card and then ended up with something completely different? Yep, that’s what happened here. I always intended on starting out with this amazing Winterberry background stamp from Pinkfresh Studio. I stamped it with their Sapphire ink, which is so gorgeous. This is where the plan went sideways. I made a bunch of yellow and orange leaves to surround my centerpiece, and when I stood back to look at it, I realized it looked like it was on fire. Not exactly the look I was going for, so I had to change my thinking.

I switched dies and ended up cutting the orange and yellow stems/leaves from MFT’s Grand Greenery Die-namics set. Apparently this die set is retired – MFT needs to bring this one back! I tucked just a few of them under stacked diecuts from The Stamp Market. These are from their Oblong Hexagon die set. The “Mom” die, along with its shadow, are from the Script Mom set from Simon Says Stamp.

.

To finish the card, I stamped the sentiment in the same Pinkfresh Studio Sapphire ink as the background. This sentiment comes from Pinkfresh Studio’s Modern Layered Florals set. I also scattered a few yellow and orange gems from Honey Bee Stamps.

That’s it for my card today – a pretty simple and straightforward design with a powerful message.

Wishing you all a crafty day!

Allison
